The Market Hall of Rotterdam
The Market Hall is a horseshoe shaped building in the city centre of Rotterdam with on the market floor, food outlets, restaurants and specialty shops. The ceiling of the Market Hall is covert with the biggest artwork in the world called 'Horn of Plenty' by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. Inside the arch are 228 apartments and under the building is a big parking. The Market Hall is open all week. Opening Times: Monday to Friday from 10:00 till 20:00, Saturday 10:00 till 21:00 and Sunday 12:00 till 18:00.
During the construction of the Market Hall, the foundations of one of the very first houses of Rotterdam dating from about the year 1000 were found. A reconstruction of this Rotta House can be seen at Masamuda in Vlaardingen and some small archaeological findings are on display in the Market Hall stairwell / parking.
