Shopping Gutter
Koopgoot
The Koopgoot in the city centre of Rotterdam
The Shopping Gutter or in Dutch Koopgoot is how the people of Rotterdam call it. Officially named Beurstraverse, but there are not many locals who use that name. The Rotterdamers call it Koopgoot because it's one level beneath street level. A shop like the Hema has its basement entrance in the Koopgoot. The Koopgoot also connects shopping street Hoogstraat with shopping street Lijnbaan. Shoppers can easily spend a whole day shopping in the centre of Rotterdam. It goes roughly from the Market Hall to the Lijnbaan and from the Weena (Central Station) to Binnenwegplein.
