Historic Delfshaven is a neighbourhood in Rotterdam
with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. In the 17th century,
it served as an important port for the Dutch East India Company and played a significant role in the Dutch Golden Age.
The area is also historically notable as the Pilgrim Fathers began their journey to America here aboard the ship Speedwell
in 1620, before continuing from England on the Mayflower.
Today, Delfshaven is a popular tourist destination, admired for its well-preserved historic buildings and charming streets.
Highlights include the Dubbele Palmboom warehouse, the Pilgrim Fathers Church, the windmill, and the brewery located in a former monastery,
which offers tours and tastings for small groups.
